Intestacy Rules

When someone dies without a valid will, it's called dying "intestate." This can happen when there's no will, it's lost, or misconceptions exist about inheritance. In such cases, the deceased's property, known as their 'estate,' is distributed following 'intestacy rules.' These rules determine estate distribution, which might not align with the deceased's will. Importantly, these rules vary across States and Territories and can significantly impact estate distribution.
